MAIN FACTS
Javier Rodrigo-Ilarri was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1972.
In 1990 he won the Valencian Community Secondary School Studies Award
In 1996 he got his degree on Civil & Environmental Engineering in the Technical University of Valencia.
In 2004 he finished his doctorate studies, being his Thesis Dissertation awarded with the Special Award of the Technical University of Valencia.
Since 2000 he is professor at the Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering Department of the Technical University of Valencia.
On the academic year 2008-2009 he lives in Germany where he works as guest researcher at the Karl-Eberhards Universität Tübingen.
MUSIC AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Between 1984-1991 he studied music and piano at Valencia Conservatory of Music. Since then, his cultural activities have mainly been related to choral music and the organization of interchanges between groups from different countries.
Between 1990-1998 he was member of the Sant-Yago University Choir of Valencia, being its President between 1992-1998.
While in the Presidency of this University Choir he organized performances on countries all over the world (Argentina & Brazil (1990)– Russia (1991) – Canada (1992) - England (1993)- China (1994) – South Africa (1995) - Australia & New Zealand (1996) – Brazil (1997) – Austria (1998)) being always supported by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Valencian Cultural Authorities. Besides, related with these activities, was the organization of the visit to Spain of groups (choirs and dance groups) coming from all these countries.
Between 1995-2002 he was member of the Spanish Choir-Federation National Youth Choir which represented Spain in the Europa-Cantat festival held in Nevers (France) in 2002. In 2000, together with some other members of this Youth Choir he founded the Vocal Group MATERSAULE.
In 2002 he founded the Choir of the Technical University of Valencia, being his President between 2004-2008. With this choir he has organized exchanges with choirs from Spain (Madrid & Salamanca (2002), Italy (2004-2005), Austria (2005-2006) and Poland (2007).
He is founder and singer of NEOVOCALIS, chamber choir devoted to contemporary choral music.
He has been co-organizer of the International Music Festival "Millenium Pace" held in Valencia in 2003.
In 2004-2005 the Vice-president of Culture of the Technical University of Valencia assigned him the duty of Director of the Area of Museums and Donations of the University.
In 2008-2009 he is member of CAMERATA VOCALIS, chamber choir of the Karl-Eberhards Universität Tübingen with whom he has participated on the International Choral Festival held in Cork (Ireland) in April 2009.
