Central and Eastern Europe Region
Prof. dr hab. Wiesław Krajka (English Department, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Lublin Poland) has been a member of Polish Section IOV for over fifteen years. He has served as a member of IOV International Commission on Mythology, Legends, Fairy-Tales, Literature, Popular Poetry and Popular Theatre and International Science and Research Commission. He has been active in many UIV events, including the following:
- 2000: Kusadasi (Turkey), The International Folk Dance Symposium: presentation of his authored paper “Through Folklore to a Culture of Tolerance and Peace: Activities of Student Dance Groups in Poland under Communism” and participation in the Symposium;
- 2001: Deva (Romania): participation in the General Assembly of IOV;
- 2003: St. Gotthard (Hungary): participation in a meeting of the Executive Council IOV;
- 2004: Lublin/Kazimierz Dolny (Poland): participation in organization of XI IOV European
- Conference on Folk Culture (organized by International Commission on Science and Research IOV and Polish Section IOV) and participation in this conference;
- 2004: Tianjin (China): participation in Extraordinary General Assembly IOV and Chinese Folk Art Exhibition;
- 2005: Chania (Greece): participation in 5th International Symposium on Dance Researchorganized by Greek section IOV;
- 2007: Athens/Volos (Greece): participation in IOV World Meeting;
- 2009: Minsk (Belarus): participation in the international conference “Folk Heritage of the World: from the Past through the Present into the Future” organized by Belarussian Academy of Sciences (participation in the inaugural meeting of IOV Science and Research Commission for Central and Eastern Europe).
- He is also the author of the book: Angielska baśń literacka epoki wiktoriańskiej [The fairy-stories of Victorian England] Warszawa-Łódź: Państwowe Wydawnictwo Naukowe [Polish Scientific Publishers], 1981, and many articles on English fairy-tale/fairy story and theory of folklore in numerous international scholarly journals.
