The V World Congress of the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV) will take place on the shores of the sacred Lake Baikal in September 2012. Scientists from many countries of the world will discuss pressing questions about how to preserve traditions in the field of national instrumental music. In the XXI century, national culture, which is the basis of the originality and uniqueness of nations of the world, should serve as a mutual enrichment of various cultures.

Events

At the same time in Ulan-Ude, the VII International Festival of traditional music “Sounds of Eurasia” will present the works of well-known musicians on national instruments of Eurasia. Interested persons can take part in master classes for players of instruments and harmonics, stringed and plucked lutes; and learn secrets of mastery from well-known professors of music from Europe and Asia. At the end of the meetings, participants will have the unique opportunity to travel to Lake Baikal.

Please designate your form of participation in the festival and congress: active or passive. Musicians and scientists selected for participation in concerts, holding master classes, reports on the congress will be active participants. Listeners willing to be acquainted with the creative work of musicians can choose the passive form of participation in any activities. The Organizing Committee will pay for accommodation, 3 meals a day, ground transportation and the cultural program for ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS of the Festival and Congress, and give visa support to foreign participants. Travel costs to Ulan-Ude and back home, cost of a Russian visa, and medical insurance (according to one's choice) will be at the active participants’ own expense.

After registration, PASSIVE PARTICIPANTS of the Festival and Congress will be enrolled in the Refresher course of the Institute of Additional Educational Services of ESSACA. They will visit all activities of the congress and festival and then receive an official certificate. The Organizing committee will pay for the cultural program and give advice on questions of accommodation, meals, transport, visa obtaining. Passive participants bear all expenses themselves.

Additional information for all participants

  • On September 23, 2012 the bus trip to Lake Baikal will be organized.
  • The brochure of Festival and collection of reports of Congress will be published (in Russian and English languages).
  • A complete set of 8 disks with the brochure (in Russian and English languages), all concerts of the Festival (video and audio), and photos of all activities and meetings of the Festival and Congress will be made available. You should make advance booking and payment for making complete sets of disks.
