Folk Culture is a quarterly journal published in Bahrain by Folk Culture Archive for Studies, Research and Publishing with the cooperation and support of the International Organization of Folk Art IOV.

The quarterly publication is made possible with the support of His Majesty  King Hamad Ben Issa Aal Khalifa, King of Bahrain,  and the Ministry of  Information and Culture.  Ali Khalifa, who is Chair of the IOV Research and Documentation Commission, is Editor In Chief.

ali.khalifaAs Folk Culture began its second year in Spring 2009, Ali Khalifa pondered the fulfillment of a dream shared by him and his colleagues to one day see the regular publication of an Arab language scholarly journal devoted to the folk culture of the Arab world.  With the publication of Folk Culture, an important new voice is added to the few publications that focus solely on countries and regions that are rich in folk tradtions.

Subscriptions are available in Arabic, with submissions abstracted in French and English.  We invite you to read Ali Khalifa’s Editorial and to browse the contents of the 5 issues that are now on line for your convenience at www.folkculturebh.org.
