Rut María García-Martínez studied at the Valencia Conservatory of Music, where she received a degree in Piano Performance in 2002. A year later, she was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin, Music Language and Pedagogy. She has been invited to perform with many orchestras in Spain and Germany.
Following completion of her undergraduate studies, García-Martínez continued her education at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she co-founded the university’s choir. From 1997 through 2000, the choir travelled to Spain, Italy, Austria and Poland on tours that included concerts and performances at international festivals.
In 2004, the University of Valencia – General Studies awarded her a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and in 2007 she received a Master’s Degree in Art Conservation and Restoration.
Rut has taught Music for many years. She is currently a professor at the Alaquàs Conservatory of Music in Valencia where she teaches History of Music, Piano performance and Choir. She also teaches Music and Art History at the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture in Valencia. From 1997 to 2000, Rut toured Austria, Canada and the United States as a member of the Sant-Yago University Choir of Valencia.
During the past year, Rut has been living in Tübingen, Germany, where she is researching and writing her Doctoral Dissertation on Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Karl-Eberhards University. In september 2009 she returns home to Valencia to finish her Doctorate studies on the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of the Polytechnic University of Valencia while working on her teaching activities.
She has been a member of the Karl-Eberhards University’s Chamber Choir (Camerata Vocalis) and has participated in the International Choral Festival of Cork, Ireland in April 2009. In Spain she will again sing with NEOVOCALIS, a chamber choir devoted to contemporary choral music which she co-founded.
Rut is member of the International Association of Folk Art (IOV) and a frequent guest speaker at international conferences on Cultural Heritage Conservation and Development Cooperation.
