UNESCO Accredits IOV Scientists

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has accredited 40 IOV member scientists as experts in the field of intangible cultural heritage (ICH).  These individual’s names are now part of the roster maintained by the Head of the ICH Section, Cecile Duvelle.  The announcement was made at the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage adopted, at its third session from 22 to 24 June 2010.


To be accredited, experts must submit credentials in at least one of the domains of the intangible cultural heritage.  The review process is rigorous and individuals must be recommended at various steps in the process in order to move ahead to the next step.
